The Origin Story

Typica’s journey began when coffee seeds left Ethiopia for Yemen, probably in the fifteenth or sixteenth century. When coffee leaf rust devastated Latin American farms in the 1970s through 2010s, many producers replaced their Typica trees with rust-resistant varieties like Castillo, Catimor, and Colombia.
