Uganda: Rwenzori Mountains

Grown by smallholder farmers in the Bunyangabo and Kasese communities of Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains, this honey-processed coffee showcases the exciting potential of Ugandan specialty coffee.

The coffee is produced in collaboration with Mountain Harvest, an organisation founded in 2017 to improve coffee quality while supporting the long-term economic and environmental sustainability of farming communities.

Known as the Mountains of the Moon, the Rwenzori region has traditionally been associated with naturally processed coffee, locally known as Drugar. Through close partnerships with farmers, Mountain Harvest has introduced greater processing diversity, allowing cherries to be processed using honey and washed methods at its regional washing station.

This lot is made from the SL14 variety and grown at around 2,000 metres above sea level. The careful honey processing helps bring out the character of the coffee, while the work being done in the region is already gaining recognition, including first place at the 2025 African Taste of Harvest competition.
