The Story
El Diviso is the result of a fresh and ambitious collaboration between three young producers in Colombia’s renowned Huila region. Brothers Nestor and Adrian Lasso took over their family’s farm five years ago with a bold decision: to move away from traditional coffee farming and dive headfirst into specialty coffee and experimental processing. At just 22 and 24, they’ve already left their mark.
Their journey led them to partner with Jhoan Vergara, another second-generation coffee grower from the nearby farm, Las Flores. Together, they formed El Diviso—a project that merges two family farms and one shared vision: to push the boundaries of quality in Colombian coffee.
Their farms sit near the town of Pitalito, in a high-altitude microclimate that offers the ideal conditions for growing exceptional coffee. The collaboration between these young producers has brought a new level of experimentation and precision to their processing methods, resulting in incredibly vibrant and expressive cups.
Producer Perspective: Nestor Lasso
“I grew up in a small community called Normandia, close to Pitalito. It’s always been a coffee-growing area, and I’ve spent my whole life on the farm. My childhood was full of freedom—playing in nature, feeling safe and connected to the land.
But traditional coffee farming isn’t easy. It barely pays enough to survive. Most families rely on what they grow to eat, and very few material goods make it into our homes. Many young people leave the countryside looking for easier jobs in the city.
I’ve always loved coffee, though. When I saw the opportunities in specialty coffee—not just financially, but as a way to grow my knowledge and develop new techniques—I knew this was my path. Coffee has become my passion and my future.”
Why We Love It
We’re proud to share this coffee—not just for its stunning cup profile, but for the story it represents. El Diviso is a product of determination, collaboration, and a belief in doing things differently. It reflects the next generation of Colombian coffee producers: smart, driven, and deeply rooted in their land.
