Ecuador: Puyango – Washed
Grown in the rolling hills of Puyango, in Ecuador’s Loja department, this washed lot brings together the Sarchimor, Acauá, and Castillo varieties at altitudes between 1,000–1,800 MASL. The region’s fertile soils and lush valleys, fed by the Saraguallas and Santa Ana rivers, create the perfect conditions for cultivating vibrant coffees. Local farming communities around the Lagunas de Saraguallas balance traditional agricultural practices with coffee production, which remains central to their livelihoods and culture. The result is a beautifully clean cup with delicate floral aromatics, layers of sweet caramel, and a juicy peach-like acidity — a light roast that showcases the best of Puyango’s terroir.
