This washed lot comes from around 600 smallholder farmers in Worka Chelbesa, Gedeb – one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions. The cherries are processed at the Danche washing station, operated by Negusse Debela and his team at SNAP Specialty Coffee, whose meticulous approach to processing has made their coffees some of the country’s most sought-after.

Coffee grows beneath a canopy of native shade trees at elevations of 1,900–2,300 metres, where the cool climate helps develop the vibrant florals, citrus and sweetness that have made Gedeb famous. Traditional Wolisho and Dega landrace varieties are hand-picked, carefully washed, and dried on raised beds before a final hand sort.
