Region: Huila Variety: Castillo, Colombia Process: Washed Taste: Green Apple & Golden Syrup Roast: Light Free delivery on all orders over £15. (estimated delivery time 2 – 5 days) Don Jesus Hernan Ledezma was born and raised in Cauca to coffee-growing parents. As a child he dedicated himself to working on the farm and at the age of 20 he decided to travel to Huila, working as a coffee picker. He had the opportunity to buy his own piece of land in Iquira, Huila after several years of hard work, naming it La Escuelita. Don Jesus is married to Mrs. Eveleida (also Caucana) and they have six children. Coffee is processed in the traditional washed method with each step in the process dependent on the climate at the time. Cherries undergo a period of fermentation in the hopper of the wet mill (12 to 16 hours). They’re then de-pulped before a dry fermentation of 24 to 30 hours and the parchment is washed and dried for 8 to 15 days.

District: Rulindo Variety: Bourbon, BM139 BM71, Jackson Process: Natural Altitude: 2000+m Taste: Mango, Vanilla & Red Apple Roast: Light Free delivery on all orders over £15. (estimated delivery time 2 – 5 days) Coffee is picked and brought to the Kinini washing station where it is separated from the other lots to be processed. The cherry must be delivered by 4pm on the day of picking and infrastructure has been built in order to make this easier. As the washing station grows, raised beds have expanded allowing the cherry to be spread out and dried for 48 days at a depth of two inches, turning regularly to avoid over fermentation and allow even drying throughout the crop. Each raised bed comes with its own marker to ensure microlot traceability and yellow tarpaulin for quick covering in case of rain.

(estimated delivery time 2 – 5 days) Across the Central Highland Range, encompassing the Aberdaire range, Nanyuki, Nyahururu, Nyeri, and Mount Kenya, the bronzed tips of SL34 and bright yellow green of SL28 undulate across the farms and estates. Forming nearly 90% of the coffee grown, the SL varietals are commonly found alongside historical varietals such as Bourbon and Kent. Newer varietals Ruiru 11, and Batian, a varietal that shares its name with the peak of the mountain slopes on which it is grown are gradually encroaching though. The higher altitude provides a cooler growing climate, and the rich soil is perfect for production of tea and coffee, as well as dairy and corn. The ranges themselves form part of the Great Rift Valley, near 6000km long trench that runs from the Lebanon to Mozambique. Rainfall is reliable, falling in two seasons creating the occurrence of two cropping seasons. Acacias is a selection of the best coffees from across what used to be called the Central Province. The province disappeared in 2013 when the country changed to a system […]
